Net airflow is the greater of volume × ACH and the reference minimum; selection airflow = net airflow × (1 + reserve).

Engineering notes
  • Bathroom ACH is compared with ASHRAE/HVI: 50 CFM intermittent or 20 CFM continuous, with fixture-based sizing for large bathrooms.
  • Kitchen hoods use the HVI recommendation by hood width and location plus the ASHRAE minimum; recirculating hoods are not ventilation.
  • Select an HVI- or AMCA-certified fan from its curve at actual duct resistance, not its free-air rating.

How is warehouse ventilation calculated?

Warehouse volume is multiplied by the selected air changes per hour to calculate m³/h. ACH depends on storage, heat, contaminants, people, and processes, so it remains an editable engineering input.

Fan quantity uses selection airflow divided by certified fan performance at operating pressure. Supply and exhaust openings must avoid short-circuiting, while hazardous or fire-sensitive storage requires specialist design.

  3. Add a reasonable system reserve.
  4. Enter certified fan airflow at pressure.
  5. Distribute exhaust and make-up air across the space.
